Eugene Youngblood of Blue Eye, MO, was born March 22, 1947, to Robert and Nola Johnson Youngblood at Berryville, AR, and passed away October 31, 2017, in Springfield, MO. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Helen DePew Youngblood, one daughter Jackie and husband Robert Porter of Blue Eye and one son Brian and wife Samantha Youngblood of Hollister, grandchildren Austin and Hannah Porter, Jacob Porter, Dekker Youngblood, and Hattie Youngblood, sisters Wanda and Joe Lippe of Wyandotte, OK, Barbara Huskey of Blue Eye, and Carolyn and Andy Newman of Sullivan, MO, brothers Jerry and Tahita Youngblood of Blue Eye and David and Michelle Youngblood of Branson, and his parents Robert and Nola Youngblood of Blue Eye. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces, his church family, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Willie and Essie Collier Youngblood, his maternal grandparents Johnnie and Jessie Dodgen Johnson, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Olen and Alpha DePew and a brother-in-law Carroll DePew.
Eugene was a lifelong resident of the Blue Eye community graduating from Blue Eye High School and College of the Ozarks. He served his community through the Blue Eye Board of Education for several years. He was a lifetime member of the Alumni Association at College of the Ozarks and dedicated time to the Point Lookout Chapter. He was a charter member of Calvary Temple Full Gospel Church at Blue Eye serving as a deacon since its founding. He worked with his partners and brothers in the family construction business started by his dad in 1951. A master of his trade, he was known for his ability to operate heavy equipment, especially a backhoe. Always willing to lend a helping hand to all, he truly had a servant’s heart until the Lord called him home.
Visitation services will be at Greenlawn Branson Friday, November 3, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at Blue Eye High School Gymnasium Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Billy Rogers officiating.
