Obituary for Nellie Joan Pratte

Nellie Joan  Pratte
Nellie Joan Pratte, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on October 4th. She was born on May 3, 1933 to Freddie and Nelcie Bears in Mount Moriah, Missouri and was the youngest of ten children.
She attended school in Cainesville, Missouri. In 1976 she returned to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a compassionate nurse and cared for patients at Maranatha Village until 2005.

It was her kindness in handing a visitor at her church a songbook that began a love story like no other. In 1951 she married Charles V. Pratte and for 57 years she loved and embraced her life which included travel while her beloved was in the military, raising 4 children and enjoying their little “rock house” in Springfield. She was an awesome and adored mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She is survived by three children, Becky Sawicki and husband John of Harrington Park, NJ, Fred Pratte and wife Ruth of Morrisville, MO and Melanie Schreiber of Springfield, MO; 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and brother, Ken Bears of Morrisville, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles V. Pratte, Sr. and son Charles V. Pratte, Jr.

Visitation will be at Greenlawn Funeral Home East on Friday, October 6th between 6:00 and 8:00 pm. Services will be held at Morrisville Assembly of God Church in Morrisville, Missouri on Saturday, October 7th at 11:00 AM where she was a longtime member.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Morrisville Assembly of God Church in Morrisville, Missouri.
