Betty Bell passed away Sept. 27th @ 11:20pm following a battle with cancer at her home, with family at her side. Betty was born April 7, 1939 near Walnut Grove, MO. to Cleadeth and Melva Cooksey. She married Norman Bell on Feb. 23, 1958, and to this union, one daughter, Sharon Lynn was born. Betty and Norman traveled for many years while Norman was in the U.S. Army. They had tours of duty at Ft. Leonard, Mo., Ft. Riley, Kansas, Baumholder, Germany, Ft. Carson, Colorado, Hanau, Germany, and while on recruiting duty-Joplin, MO, Springfield, MO, and Kansas City, MO. Norman also had a tour of duty in Korea and Viet Nam. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Phillip Dale Cooksey. She is survived by her husband, Norman, one daughter, Sharon Wimsatt, granddaughter, Angela McLaughlin and her husband Gabriel, one step-granddaughter, Shannon Krasser and her husband Derick, step-grandchildren, Cami and Gage Hurley. She is also survived by one sister, Verna Eaves of Nixa, one brother, Melvin Douglas Cooksey and his wife, Arlie of Corpus Christi, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. At Betty’s request, there will be a brief service at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, in the pavilion at 11:00am.
