Obituary for Carlton E. Howell

Carlton E. Howell
Carlton E. Howell Jr. departed this life September 7, 2017 at Mercy Hospital.
He was born August 8, 1940 in Valdosta, Georgia to Dr. and Mrs. Carlton E. Howell.
The family moved to southern Missouri in 1952. Carlton attended the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. After college he joined the U.S. Army Reserve. He moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he met and later married Joanne Feuerbacher in 1964.
Carl soon joined Texaco Oil Company and was part of the Texaco family for 38 years. He retired as a senior real estate executive in 2001.
After retirement, Carl and Joanne moved to Springfield to be near their son Richard and his family. His hobbies included golfing, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Highland Springs Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf with his buddies twice a week. He also loved supporting his grandchildren at their sports activities and dance recitals.
Carlton is survived by his wife Joanne, his son Richard and wife Debbie, three grandchildren, Eden, Garrison and Zach, two brothers, Tom Howell and wife Laura, Steve Howell and wife Kathy, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East with a service following at 1:00 PM with Fr. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
