Condolence From: Cleo M (king) Alfrey
Condolence: My late husband was Gary King he passed away in Oct. 0f 1999. The obiturary brought back so many memories as we both worked for Kirk. Gary worked for him 7 years I think.Don't remember how long I worked for him. We bought several of his laundries. Yes he was an entergetic man. Remember hearing about the bike ride. Sounds like he had a wonderful retirement. Send our sympathy in your loss. Love and prayers Cleo M King.

Condolence From: Daphne Tompkins
Condolence: My grandmother, Daphne Tompkins, who points out that Kirk was 13 days older than her, and this was always a fun joke between them, wishes to send her condolences to Kirk's family. She lives with my family (I am Jerry's daughter Dianne) in Shawnee, KS, and I read her his obituary, which she tearfully enjoyed. Particularly hearing about his retirement from golf. She says, "Tom would've loved that part!" (He passed four years ago.) She supposes they are playing a spirited round full of jokes and funny stories right now. She always enjoyed meeting Kirk and Rae Dene for breakfast, where Kirk would be sure to order waffles and "crisp bacon." I recall my Grandad forwarding many funny political or KU jokes via email to me that originated with Kirk. My grandad would laugh until he cried at some of those jokes. Grandad always greeted him as "You old son of a gun," and Kirk would always ask him why he referred to him as such with a laugh. What a fun pair they were! Gram also says she remembers a time when she and Grandad had dinner at Outback Steakhouse with Kirk and Ben was there, and placed a woopie cushion on Kirk's chair while he was in the restroom! She said the whole restaurant erupted in laughter as Kirk returned and sat down, Kirk included! She remembers that Kirk and Ben had such a special relationship. Thanks for so many fun memories, Kirk! All of our love to Rae Dene, Kathy, Karen and families. Daphne Tompkins and family
