Martin Lonnie Holder, Sr.
January 1, 1941 – August 24, 2017

Martin “Lonnie” Holder, Sr., age 76, passed away on August 24th, 2017 in Bolivar surrounded by family. He was born on January 1st, 1941 in Hoxie, AR the son of Will Henry and Leona Afton (Spargo) Holder. He was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Smith May 6, 1960, in Rockford, IL.
Martin proudly served his country for 20 years in both the US Navy and US Army. He served overseas for the majority of his distinguished career earning the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3rd Class. After his retirement from the military, he moved his family to the Halfway area. He was a custom hay baling operator and enjoyed his cattle. He retired yet again after 28 years in the elevator trade and was the owner of Show Me State Inspections for 10 years. He loved antique cars & trucks (especially Mopar), and he proudly drove his ’55 and ’67 Plymouth Belvedere around town. He was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed trips on his Goldwing. He also enjoyed league bowling with his family & friends.
He loved his family and was truly loved by all. He was a wonderful father, grandfather & great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will Henry and Leona Afton (Spargo) Holder and an infant son, Daniel Dean. He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Beverly Ann (Smith), daughter; Teri Lynn (Bill) Campbell of Halfway, son; Martin Lonnie Holder, Jr. of Polk and daughter; Suann Kay (Dale) Taylor of Union, MO. Grandkids; Adam Wane Christensen, Carie Lynn Christensen, Hayley Dawn Campbell, Colin Stuart Campbell, Jessica Leah Johnson, Jennifer Ann McCarthy, Martin Lonnie Holder III, Janice Renee Shewmaker, Jacob Michael Holder and Cody Neal Taylor. Great-Grandkids; Maris Avery Christensen, Brayden Wayne Morrison, Tyler Austin Morrison, Rayce James Johnson, Hayden Lee McCarthy, Trenton Dean McCarthy, Trey Daniel McCarthy, Maddox James McCarthy, Addison Nicole Holder, Juliann Elizabeth Holder, Mylee Grace Holder, Payton Reese Holder, Ryan McCoy Shewmaker, Brody Stone Shewmaker, Ivy Lynn Shewmaker, Landyn Blaze Holder, and Lawson Lane Holder; And a host of brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Pitts Chapel with Pastor Jim Robbins officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens Bolivar, MO. with full military honors. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, August 29, 2017, at the funeral home.
