Obituary for Kathryn Lee Kelley

Kathryn Lee  Kelley
Kathryn “Kay” Kelley, 87, of Branson, Missouri passed away August 10, 2017. She lived most recently in Forsyth, Missouri at Forsyth Nursing and Rehab.

Kay was born to Floyd and Florence (Woodruff) Kelley on July 18, 1930 in Mildred, Kansas. She attended school in and became a long-time resident of Chanute, Kansas before moving to Branson, Missouri 17 years ago. Kay is preceded in death by her parents and her four siblings: Dudley Kelley, Louise Edwards, Kenneth Chestnut and Burton Chestnut.

Kay is retired from the State of Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, having worked as the Region 5 Administrative Secretary. She was a 50-year member of the Sunflower Chapter of the Eastern Star, The American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary. She was very active in both Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church in Branson and Grace Episcopal Church in Chanute, as well as the Diocesan ECW. Kay was an avid reader and volunteered for the Taneyhills Library. Because she loved to make people laugh, she learned the art of clowning and performed as “Yak-Yak”. Other creative interests were painting, quilting and crocheting. She also instilled a love of travel in her family.

Surviving family includes: Debbie and Rick Davis of Branson, daughter and son-in-law; granddaughter Lindsey (Davis) Haug, her husband Aaron and son Benjamin of Denver, Colorado; granddaughter Kaitlin (Davis) Bridges, her husband Michael and daughters Claire and Grace of St. Louis, Missouri; and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church in Branson, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to: Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church or Taneyhills Library in Branson, Missouri.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home Branson.
