Obituary for Eliza Jane Smith (Cass)

Eliza Jane Smith (Cass)
Eliza ‘Jane’ Smith, 75, Nixa, MO formerly of Springfield, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, August 11, 2017 after a short, unexpected illness. She left this earth, hand in hand with both of her daughters, ready to meet her Heavenly Father face to face.

She was born on December 23, 1941 to Sidney and Gladys (Garland) Cass in Stigler, OK. Jane dedicated her life to serving God and being a constant example of His love. She worked for the Assemblies of God World Missions’ division, and after retirement, continued to serve by working with Project Rescue for many years.

Jane loved us all, but her eyes lit up every time she saw her grandsons Max and Sam. They created countless memories with each other, and she will forever be their ‘Pokie’ and they forever ‘her boys’.

She’s been reunited with many family and friends that have already made their way home. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lon William Smith, her brothers Sidney Wallace Cass and Dwayne Howard, her sisters Juanita Bowen and Connie Goins, her brother-in-law John Smith, and her nephew Steve Smith.

She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses; Kim and Tim Brower and Kari and Karen Smith, two grandchildren; Max and Sam Brower, two sisters and their spouses; Sophina and Dean Dunn and Vonetta and Don Busse, one brother and his spouse; Dennis and Betty Howard, three sisters-in-law; Doris Jean Smith, Linda Howard, and Goldie Smith, five nieces; Sydney Kellett, Amiee Gonzales, Vynell Howard, Regina Dodd, and Jeanette Barber, and five nephews; Aaron Dunn, Phillip Busse, Donald Busse, Randy Howard, and Troy Howard.

Jane truly had a heart for God. While we grieve our loss of such a beautiful spirit, Heaven continues to rejoice that she is home. Until we meet again, thank you Jane for being everything God called you to be. We love you.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 15, 2017, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
