Edwin (Ed) King was born on December 7, 1932, the only child of Johnnie and Zella (Booth) King. He passed from this earth to his new heavenly home on August 7, 2017. His childhood and youth were spent in Webb City, Missouri. After graduating from high school in 1950, Mr. King joined the Air Force. He served as an Air Policeman. One of his honors while serving was being a member of the West Coast All Stars Basketball team.
After his discharge, he worked for Cook Electric Company in Japan. While there, he met and married the love of his life, Yukie Ogino. To this union was born a daughter, Janet Elaine. Many of you will remember her as part of the Woody and Janet radio show.
After returning home, Mr. King worked for Boeing Aircraft as an inspector of North American missile sights. His last twenty years of working, he spent with the Missouri Department of Weights and Measures as a propane inspector, serving twenty-nine counties in SW Missouri. During his life, he also built and sold houses.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives and his beloved step-father, Arnold Yust.
He is survived by his daughter Janet (Michael) Doss, his granddaughter Lilly, his daughters by a former marriage, Patty and Marla and their families, his fiancée, Sheila Wayne and her family, and a host of family and friends.
You broke our hearts when you left us, but, oh, you made us smile while you were here. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 10:00 am in Campbell United Methodist Church, 1747 E. Republic Road, Springfield, MO with services to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. Obituary written by Sheila Wayne
