Obituary for Jonathan W. Glover

Print
Jonathan Glover was born January 21st, 1927 in Gill, Colorado. As we look back on the life of Jonathan Glover, we celebrate a life that blessed numerous people throughout the world over many years as a missionary, pastor, family member, neighbor, and friend. He was a remarkable man with talents that covered a wide spectrum of skill that he used to serve others in the name of the Lord. Self-sacrifice of his finances and time on behalf of the church, and other worthy causes were hallmarks of his life---he practiced what he preached. He would often share stories from the mission field offering evidence to prove the Lord’s intervention to save his life. A car accident in Kenya with severity that usually results in death to the occupants, and escaping a well filled with methane gas at the last moment to save the lives of others are just two examples. Jonathan held a deep love for his Lord and Savior. Even at the end, when dementia had ravaged his mind to the point where memories of the past and present eluded him, he could still be seen praising God and praying for, and singing hymns to residents of the care facility where he would spend the final 5 months of life on earth.

Thanks to the grace of God, support and self-sacrifice of his children, and the Tampa Assembly of God family, Jonathan was blessed to have been able to remain in his home for 90 years before residential care became a necessity. The Maplewood Alzheimer’s Unit in Springfield cared for Jonathan like family and we are all deeply thankful for the services they provided to him and others in our community. Heaven is rejoicing today as this warrior for Christ joins loved ones who passed before him in a grand celebration of life ever after.
In 2010, Jonathan’s beloved wife of 54 years went to be with the Lord. This was a difficult time for Jonathan but her memory remained with him.
Jonathan is survived by his son Mark Glover, and wife Vickie, daughter Anita Hargus (Glover), and husband Curtis, two sisters, Sue Gibbons and Margie Eager living in Greely, Colorado, six grandchildren, Erin DiCiolla, Courtney Chance, Whitney Hargus, Garrett Glover, Matt Park, and Adam Park, three great-grandchildren, Ella DiCiolla, Bentley Chance, and Cameron Park, sister-in-law Verla York and brother-in-law John York of Denver, Colorado, sister-in-law Earline Schreiner of Stillwater, Oklahoma, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jim and Janie Hodges of Rio Vista, California, sister-in-law Judy Hodges of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
