Obituary for Lee Roy Palmer

Lee Roy Palmer, son of Elmer and Minnie Palmer was born May 7, 1928 in Springfield, Missouri, and departed from this life on August 1, 2017. He is preceded in death by his father and mother and sister Martha.
Lee Roy was united in marriage to Shirley Stenzel 62 years ago on March 2, 1955. To this union were born two daughters. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church, Chapel for Peace. Lee Roy was pastor of Brentwood Hills and Westport Church. He was also employed with the Springfield Public Schools and retired after 31 years. Lee Roy served in the U.S. Army and his tour was mostly in Germany.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, his children Linda and David Willbanks, Brenda and Steve Lockling all of Springfield, three grandchildren James Hostetler and wife Nicole of Republic, MO, Stephen Lockling and wife Meryl of Topeka, KS, Mariann and Matt Brooks of Springfield, four great-grandchildren, Ella Maye Hostetler, Holly Anne Hostetler, Olivia Rahe Lockling and Norah Adeline Lockling.
A celebration of Lee Roy’s life will be on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at 4:00 pm in the Community of Christ Church, Chapel for Peace, 909 W. Battlefield, Springfield, MO 65807. Lee Roy’s final resting place will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Outreach International, 129 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64050.
