Obituary for Claudette Marie Millstead (Judy)

Dr. Claudette Judy Millstead, a former resident of the Chanute area, passed away on July 31, 2017. She always supported the 1957 graduating class of Chanute High School and stayed friends with many of her classmates. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Judy of Chanute. She was born in Butler, MO on April 14, 1939. She served as Director of the School of Medical Technology at St. Johns (Mercy) Regional Health Center in Springfield and she was owner of Creative Photography by Claudette for many years. After receiving her Doctorate in Education, she served as Allied Health Director at the Jewish College of Nursing and Allied Health in St. Louis, MO.
Claudette loved her many friends, playing bridge, sewing, reading and painting. She loved her herb garden and was a Board Member for the Springfield Area Herb Society. She was devoted to her family, Bob Millstead of Springfield, Bart and Angela Millstead and her two beloved granddaughters, Crosby and Carsten of Carbondale, Illinois. She also had many cousins in Kentucky and Florida that were devoted to her. She was a lifelong learner and treated people with dignity, thoughtfulness and respect. She will be deeply missed by her close family and many friends.
In in lieu of sending flowers to the visitation please send donations to the - Friends of the Garden/ Springfield Area Herb Society.
A Memorial visitation will be on Friday, August 4, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Per her request there will be a private service planned for a later date.
