Wauneata DeBoyce  Day (Mooberry)
Wauneata DeBoyce Day was born September 25, 1924, in the Sand Hills of Johnstown, Nebraska, on a 5000 acre ranch. The daughter of Henry and Evelyn (Hill) Mooberry, she went to be with the lord, July 18, 2017.
Wauneata moved from Nebraska to a farm in Niangua, Mo. She graduated from Niangua, Mo. High School in 1943. She met and married Herschel Mathis in 1944 during WWII. To this union, five daughters were born. Wauneata is survived by her daughters: Phyllis (Charles) Meyrand, Peggy Gardner, Kathy Ebright, Janet (Doug) Boone, and Shelia (Erik) Szewczyk; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a sister Grace Klahr; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Mike and Henry Mooberry, sisters: Margaret Mooberry, Myrle Fallis, and Melba Gillespie, and a great grandson, Jesse Herring. Later in life, she married O.G. Day, who passed away in 2004.
Wauneata waa a proud member of South Campbell Avenue Baptist Church for over 40 years. She loved the Lord. The Lord helped her make it through the many peaks and valleys in her life.
Wauneata was a home health aide for a few years; she loved helping others. Her home was always open to friends and family. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and baking her famous pies. She will be dearly missed by her family.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, Mo. Burial will follow, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be an hour before services, from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the South Campbell Avenue Baptist Church.
