Obituary for Beverly L. Freitag (Shannon)

Beverly L.  Freitag (Shannon)
Beverly Louise Freitag, 74, of Stockton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 at her home. Beverly was born April 23, 1943 outside of Nevada, Missouri to Orville L. Shannon and Vivian E. (Cooper) Shannon.

Beverly attended school at Richard’s and Hume High School until they moved to Springfield her Senior year. She graduated from Parkview High School in 1961. Beverly also attended Southern Missouri State University while also working on campus.

Some of Beverly’s other jobs have been, Soil and Water Department, Springday Rubber Company, Social Security office in Nevada, Missouri and Springfield, then US Post Office in Springfield, Missouri, which she retired from with 20+ years of Civil Service.

A few years after retirement, Beverly battled Stage 4 Lymphoma Cancer and “Won” her fight. She moved to Stockton the end of 2005 to be closer to her family. Then she started working part-time at Hannah’s General Store in Fair Play, Missouri, then part-time for Wal Mart in Nevada, Missouri.

Beverly loved working in her yard and garden.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Vivian E. (Cooper) Shannon, her father, Orville L. Shannon, her sister, Margaret A. Cross, her aunt Geraldine Langford, and aunt Thelma Meritt, and several cousins.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth A. Winfrey and husband Kenneth R. Winfrey of Humansville, 6 grandchildren; Ashley Winfrey, Brandon Lockman, Raymond Winfrey, Kyle Lockman, Justin Halbert, and Jessica Winfrey, 2 great-grandchildren; Henrey Lockman and Blair Winfrey, 2 nephews; Ray Lynn Cross and Kimberly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Matthew Cross and Hollee of Sheldon, Missouri.
