A LETTER TO MY LOVE PAM
My Dearest Pam:
I met you on the school bus and my heart skipped a beat. You are the most beautiful girl I had ever met. You were a freshman and I was a senior who just moved into the area. When we finally started dating I was on Cloud 9. We went to church together, sang in the choir, you had the most beautiful voice but were to shy about it. You made me the happiest man on earth when you said yes, but I had to ask your mom and dad’s permissions. That scared the life out of me, but I guess love conquers all.
On June 22, 1973 you became my life mate and made me so very happy. We loved each other through our daily lives. Then on November 28, 1986 you gave birth to our son Christopher. We watched our son grow over the years into a handsome man. We went to a lot of different places as a family. Even with our different work schedules, you working days and me working nights. We made it work when a lot of couples would have given up! On a lot of days we would catch each other at the end of the street, stop and say “I Love You”. You would head home and I would head to work. I guess our love made it work.
Our last adventure together was to the road course at Topeka Kansas to watch Chris and his “brother from another mother” John ride their sport bikes on the road course. I know this is always scared you, because the wonderful mother in you is always concerned about her baby. No matter how big he is or how old he is.
We came home and you said you had a little shoulder pain and a little pain in your stomach once in a while. We went to urgent care thinking muscle strain from helping me with coolers and EZ Up’s. We never expected the news of cancer. Twenty days later, here at home you went to be with the Lord. This is the first time we have been separated in 44 years.
I love you and miss you. My heart is breaking but I promise that one day I will be with you in heaven. You will always be in my heart and soul.
All My Love Forever,
Mike
