Donald George Guimond age 88, of Springfield, MO passed away Sunday, June 4th, 2017 at Cox Medical Center South .

Don was born May 24, 1929 in Manteno, IL to Aime and Armella Guimond . He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Don was united in marriage to Victoria Grant on February 23, 1952 in La Salle, IL. Don worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company, East Peoria, IL for 36 years, retiring on January 1, 1991. After his retirement Don owned a professional photography business, specializing in weddings. He also managed Washington Skateland. He was a Die Hard Chicago Cubs fan and Chicago Bears fan. Don enjoyed playing golf, fishing, traveling, riding motorcycles, gardening, and reading. His greatest love was his wife of 63 years Victoria.

Survivors include his four children; Donald (Sha) Guimond, Dennis Guimond, Garry (Sherry) Guimond, and Mari Ann Benson; eight grandchildren, Faith, Matthew, Jessica, Daniel, Laura, Jacqueline, Skylar, and Jamiee'; five great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. Don was preceded in death by his loving wife, Victoria Ann Guimond; parents, Aime and Armella Guimond; and one sister, Patricia Melton.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. A celebration of Don's life will be held Friday, June 9th, 2017 at 10:00 am in Greenlawn Funeral Home North 3506 North National Springfield, Missouri 65803, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. A reception will be held after the services at the Doling Park Pavillion. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Memorial contributions may be made the Wounded Warrior Project.
