Obituary for Shirley Louise Turner

Shirley Louise  Turner
Shirley Leouise (Fers) Turner passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, surrounded by loved ones, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. She was born September 19, 1935 in Conway, Missouri, to Charles Ephraim and Hilda Blanche Fers. Upon graduating from Niangua High School in 1953, she moved to Springfield and worked for Sears Roebuck & Co., where she met her future husband, John Wesley Turner. They were married on May 13, 1956 and had two children. Shirley always put family first and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She chose to be a full time wife and mother when her children were born so that she could dedicate her life and her time to her family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and one great-grandchild, William Wesley Turner, II, brothers-inlaw, Bobby Cantrell and Al Lovell. She is survived by her husband, John; son John Jr and his wife, Shiela; daughter Bonnie Murdock and her husband, Kevin; grandchildren Rachel Marino (Greg), Tanya Massouh (Paul), John Turner, III (Angela), Bradley Murdock (Carly), Matthew Murdock, and seven great-grandchildren, she is also survived by three sisters and one brother, Becky Cantrell, Oleta Brown and husband Tom, Ida Lovell and John Fers and wife Joyce.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all of the staff at James River Care and Rehabilitation Center where Shirley spent the last three years of her life, as well as the nurses and staff of Hospice Compassus.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM Monday, May 1, 2017 with services beginning at 2:00 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Burial will follow at Danforth Cemetery.
