Obituary for Velma Marie Norton (Anderson)
Velma M Norton, age 91, of Springfield, MO passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at Woodland Manor. She was born August 23, 1925 in Pleasant Hope, MO.
Velma was a homemaker and devoted loving wife, she was a loving and caring mother. She was saved at an early age and was a dedicated and active member of Rock Prairie Missionary Baptist Church. She loved and cherished all of her children, grandchildren and friends. Velma enjoyed family, or anything that included family or sometimes extra friends for Sunday dinners or holidays. Or maybe just having everyone over for dinner and homemade ice cream, after swimming in the creek. She will truly be missed by all, but Heaven is her home now, and some glorious day we will all join her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Norton, two sons: Ricky and Terry Norton, a grandson Robert Cowan and a great grandson Mark Norton. Velma is survived by her daughter Vicki Cowan and her husband Richard, daughter-in-law Sandra Norton, eight grandchildren: Jeffery Norton, Jon Wesley Norton, Tara Beth Booth, Michelle Schoen, Michael Cowan, Summer Orbin, Spring Sutherland and Josh Norton and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Rock Prairie Missionary Baptist Church Pleasant Hope, MO. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Burial will be in Rock Prairie Cemetery.
