Obituary for Frank Vovk

Frank Vovk died on Feb is, 2017 at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born on Feb 6, 1935 in Mali Cirnik, Siovenija to Franc and Marija Vovk. He immigrated to the United States in 1958 and was drafted into the Army. He served in numerous places in the US as well as Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. For his year of service as a military advisor to Vietnamese units exclusively he was awarded
the Silver Star. He attained the rank of Sergeant Major and concluded his 2~ years in the service as a ROTC instructor at Kansas State University, where he obtained his Master's degree. He married his wife Sigrid in 1963 while stationed in Germany. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and daughter. Frank and wife Andrea, of Kansas City, Missouri; Michael and wife Melanie, of Castaic, California; and Renate and husband Mark Harvey, of Springfield, Missouri. He enjoyed spending time with his six grandchildren; Nicklas, Mikayla, Karly, Gabriella, Samantha, and Tyler. Inurnment will take place with military honors, on Friday the 24th of February, 2017 at the Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. Donations can be made to The Kidney Institute, at The University of Kansas Medical Center.
