Obituary for Lela Nadine Quinn

Lela Nadine Potter Quinn went home to be with the Lord on November 18, 2010 after a short illness. Nadine was born on November 16, 1926 in Niangua, Missouri, to Acsha Violet Barrick Potter and Paul Clement Potter who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Pauline and Charlene Potter.
Nadine attended Greenwood school in Springfield and graduated from there in 1944. She was a graduate from St. Johns School of Nursing. She married her childhood sweetheart, James Porter Quinn in 1947, who preceded her in death in 2009.
Nadine is survived by daughters, Mary Evelyn Quinn, and Becky Quinn, of Strafford; son, James David and wife Connie Flood Quinn, of Springfield; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and Sharon Alexander Terry, of Strafford. Also surviving her are sisters-in-law, Jean Shock Quinn, Dora Quinn Arney Meikle; brother-in-law, Robert C. Quinn and wife Phobe; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Nadine’s ministry was a 40 year career as a registered nurse. She was employed at Burge Hospital and Cox North from 1952 until her retirement in 1985. She was head nurse on the Cox North Cardiac floor before assisting with planning and managing the Cox North Cardiac Catheterization lab. In the 1960’s and 70’s she held several leadership roles in the Missouri Nurses Association. She was a long time Lady Bear fan.
Visitation will be in Greenlawn Funeral Home North at noon on Monday, November 22, 2010 followed by services at 1 p.m., with interment in Hazelwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to CoxHealth Foundation, or charity of choice, or plant a tree.
