Obituary for Edwin Lee Ivey

Edwin Lee Ivey, 62, went to his heavenly home on July 2, 2015 after a 10 month battle with cancer. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Edwin was born to Harold and Faye Ivey in Thayer, Missouri. Four years later his brother Duane Ivey was born and they became not only brothers but life-long friends. Edwin, Duane and their father, Harold, started Ivey Refrigeration in 1977 in Springfield, Missouri. The three of them worked side by side for many years building a successful company.
In 1974 Edwin married Dianne Hayter. Together they shared 41 years together attending Springhill Baptist Church and Sac River Cowboy Church. Edwin was a devoted father who did anything for his children and grandchildren. His love for cooking and especially BBQ began with the Cutting Edge Marching Band at Willard High School. Edwin cooked for all band competitions even after his kids were no longer in school. His love for cooking and helping others only grew as the years went on. He cooked for many church functions and was a devoted cook at Baptist Hill Boys Camp. For many years Edwin participated in the Live Springfield Nativity Pageant at the Springfield Fairgrounds. Edwin also loved to bowl and was on a league for many years.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Dianne; daughter, Heather Scott and husband, Mark; son, Eric Ivey; grandchildren Brittany Scott, Mariah Scott, Clayton Scott, and London Scott; brother, Duane Ivey and wife Sherrill Ivey; mother, Faye Ivey; father-in-law, John Hayter; brother-in-laws Ken Hayter and Ronnie Hayter; sister-in-law Pam Hayter. Edwin is preceded in death by his father, Harold Ivey.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 5 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East from 3:00 – 5:00. Graveside services will be held Monday, July 6 at 11:00 am at Clear Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greene County Baptist Hill Boys Camp, 834 W. Battlefield, Springfield, MO 65807.
